PE and Sport premium
PE and Sport Premium is additional government funding given to eligible state-funded primary schools in England to improve PE, sport and physical activity provision.
For the 2025–26 academic year, the DfE says the funding is intended to make additional and sustainable improvements to PE, sport and physical activity, helping children develop healthy, active lifestyles.
At Sunshine, we are committed to using this funding to inspire all children to enjoy being physically active and to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to lead healthy, active lifestyles.
We use the funding to broaden and enhance the range of sporting opportunities and experiences available to our pupils, while developing their physical skills, teamwork, resilience and confidence.
Through participation in PE, physical activity and sport, we aim to help children:
- Develop a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity and sport
- Develop their physical skills and confidence
- Understand the importance of being active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle
- Develop teamwork, cooperation and respect for others
- Learn to follow rules and demonstrate good sportsmanship
- Develop resilience and learn how to respond positively to success and disappointment
- Have opportunities to participate, compete and achieve their personal goals
We want every child to have the opportunity to be active, enjoy sport and develop the skills and positive attitudes that will support them throughout their lives.
Please see below for details of how we have allocated our PE and Sport Premium funding and the impact it has had on our pupils.
